Search engine optimisation sounds more complicated than it is. Most of the gains aren’t in tricks, but in doing the basics well. You can pick up these five things today.
1. Write for people, not for Google
The best copy answers a real question from your customer. Think about what someone types just before they reach you, and give a clear answer. Google rewards content that genuinely helps people.
2. Make sure your site is fast
A slow site costs you visitors and rankings. Compress your images, use a modern format like webp and load only what’s needed. Speed isn’t a luxury, it’s a prerequisite.
A visitor who has to wait three seconds is often gone before your story even starts.
3. Give every page a clear title
The page title is the first thing someone sees in the search results. Make it concrete and human, not a list of keywords. One page, one topic, one clear title.
4. Structure your content with headings
Headings help both the reader and the search engine understand your story. Use them in a logical order and don’t bury your most important message at the bottom.
5. Measure what happens
Without measurement you don’t know what works. Set it up well and don’t just look at visitor counts, look at what those visitors do. That’s how you know where to steer.
Starting small is fine. Pick one this week and build from there. Want help with this? I’m happy to think along.
